Q. What are the prerequisites for a typical course at SBC?
A. All diploma programs require an overall Grade 12 average of 60-70% (minimum) or GED 12/ABE 12.

Q. Do I have to write an assessment to be accepted?
A. If you do not possess a Canadian grade 12, you may be required to write a 45 minute basic mathematics and English assessment after applying. The assessment is given to ensure students will be successful in their programs before they can be admitted. Candidates may rewrite this assessment twice.

Q. Do you require I.D. when you apply?
A. Permanent Residents must submit their PR card to be photocopied for their file.

Q. Do PRs have language requirements.
A. English is the language of instruction at SBC. If English is not your first language, you may be required to submit proof of your English training. See SBC International Student Admissions & Requirements.

Q. Have I missed the deadline to apply?
A. Please call 306.244.6333 and ask for a career advisor to determine is seating is still available in your program of interest. 

Q. Are specific classes from my Grade 12 year required in order to be accepted?
A. No. We calculate your overall Grade 12 average in determining your average.

Q. Do I have to fill out an application form in order to be accepted?
A. Yes. The application form is available online here. Application fee is $100 (non refundable but valid for two (2) years).

Q. Does SBC require original transcripts?
A. Original copy of High School transcript must be included in order to be accepted. If you graduated from a Saskatchewan high school, you can order your Grade 12 transcript here. If you have copies of your original transcripts, you may bring them in when you apply.

Q. What do I need to bring on Registration Day?
A. Please bring a blue or black pen and the appropriate funding documents that may include the following:

• Proof of funding letter (funding agency)
• Source of payment (cheque, cash [up to $500], debit card, or money order)
• If paying with debit, please verify your daily transaction limit is sufficient.

Note: We do not accept Visa or MasterCard.

Q. When is payment due?
A. The books and supplies fees are due on or before your start date and ARE NOT covered by student loans. The schedule for tuition payments is laid out in the pre-enrollment information for students who have already been accepted. Personalized payment plans may be made by appointment. Q. How do I apply for a Canada/Saskatchewan student loan?
A. You must apply online by visiting Canada-Saskatchewan Integrated Student Loans through the Advanced Education Portal.

Q. Do I have to submit a Program Information Form to SBC to complete my Canada-Saskatchewan Integrated student loan application?
A. No, we have form on file that can be easily submitted to Canada Student Loans. Call the Student Funding Liaison at 306-244-6333 to request that your form be submitted.

Q. I require a Confirmation of Enrollment for my bank—how can I get one?
A. SBC cannot issue Confirmations of Enrollment until the student’s first FULL day of classes. On Registration Day, please notify the Student Funding Liaison that you require one.

Q. What would my class hours be?
A. Monday to Thursday from 8:30 to 3:30 (half hour lunch)

Q. How much homework can I expect?
A. Minimum one hour per night; however, this depends greatly on study habits, memorization skills and time management.

Q. Does SBC have a dress code?
A. No. Students are only required to dress business style during career strategies class and for occasional guest speakers.

Q. What is the average class size?
A. Students at SBC can look forward to small classes (15 to 1 student/instructor ratio) with a dedicated and professional instructor leading every class.

Q. I’m having trouble in my classes. Is help available?
A. Students are welcome to meet with instructors after class. If further help is required tutors can be arranged.

Q. Does SBC help me find employment?
A. SBC has a full-time Graduate-Employer Liaison who helps hundreds of graduates each year (free of charge) to find career-related employment in a variety of businesses. Many of Saskatoon’s top companies rely on SBC to help fill vacancies.  Many of these positions are not publicly advertised.

Q. Is my diploma recognized?
A. Saskatoon Business College is Saskatchewan’s only nationally accredited career college (CCAP). Accreditation is a “yard stick” measurement showing the college has high standards and stability as a result of meeting CCAP requirements.  If you plan to move, CCAP accreditation helps identify you as having graduated from a prestigious business college which has many proven quality measurements.
