In just 43 weeks, our Accounting, Tax, and Payroll diploma program equips you with the hands-on skills, knowledge, and experience in QuickBooks, Excel, Canadian tax systems, and payroll information systems that you need to enter in-demand roles in the accounting, tax, and payroll field.

This course prepares you to enter roles like payroll administrator, bookkeeper, income tax preparer, and accounting technician. You’ll also gain real-world experience in an accounting environment with the included 5-week practicum placement.

Bookkeeping & Financial Accounting I

Learn the foundational elements of accounting, including understanding the significant role accounting plays in today's organizations, as well as its various users and uses. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the entire accounting process, from transaction analysis to the preparation of financial statements to make you a key player in any business.

Bookkeeping & Financial Accounting II

Following on from Bookkeeping & Financial Accounting I, you'll continue studying the core principles of bookkeeping and financial accounting, this time focusing on the practical applications in both the merchandising and service industries. Learn how to differentiate between the different industry activities, analyze and record merchandise transactions, and understand inventory costing and valuation. The skills acquired in this course are essential when dealing with internal control, cash management, accounting for receivables, and the management of non-current assets.

Personal Income Tax Preparation I

Learn about the principles of personal income taxation in Canada by gaining an in-depth understanding of the Canadian tax systems, filing procedures, and taxpayer obligations. Understand how to determine taxable income from employment income, apply deductions and credits, and calculate tax payable for individuals. By the end of this course, you'll be able to accurately report income and comply with tax regulations.

Personal Income Tax Preparation II

Building on the skills and knowledge gained in Personal Income & Tax Preparation I, this course will help you understand advanced aspects of Canadian tax systems, focusing on critical areas such as Capital Cost Allowance (CCA), income or loss from a business, capital gains and losses, and GST/HST. You'll learn how to handle complex tax scenarios and ensure effective preparation and analysis of tax returns for individuals with divers financial situations.

Computerized Bookkeeping - Quickbooks Online

Make the transition from manual bookkeeping to computerized accounting by learning the programs and processes needed to do it successfully, including QuickBooks. This course takes a hands-on learning approach to see you effectively set up and enter income and expense information, clients, suppliers, invoicing, and payment into QuickBooks to stay organized in your new career.

Payroll I

Learn the principles and practices of payroll management within the Canadian context. Understand the payroll system, labour standards, and gross income calculations while learning about pensionable, insurable, and taxable earnings, non-statutory withholdings, and how to calculate net pay. Additionally, learn how to address employer responsibilities for payroll taxes and premiums in order to manage payroll accurately and compliantly.

Payroll II

Deepening your breadth of knowledge from Payroll I, strengthen your understanding of payroll management by learning advanced payroll accounting, payroll information systems, and remittance procedures. Explore the financial aspects of employment termination, including final pay calculations and severance, and understand how to generate year-end payroll reports. By the end of this course, you'll be well-equipped to manage payroll operation efficiently and in complete compliance with the relevant regulations.

Business Essentials

Learn how to effectively organize a project, develop business networking skills, understand marketplace business practices, and gain the skills needed to coordinate appropriate day-to-day workplace procedures. In this course, you'll understand crucial functions that drive results-oriented outcomes in fast-paced workplaces.

Organizational Behaviour

Get a fundamental understanding of how human behaviours in the workplace affect the performance of not only individuals, but teams, and various organizational groups. Learn about situational communication, culture, personal differences, workplace politics, and effective outcomes for healthy communication in the workplace to help you succeed in your new career.

Microsoft Outlook

Learn how to manage files, edit, format, and print documents correctly while building an in-depth understanding of the common Microsoft functions necessary in the workplace.

Microsoft Word

Learn how to create, edit, and manipulate Microsoft Word documents through practical, hands-on training.

Microsoft Excel

With a hands-on training approach, this course prepares you to enter and format data and use various functions and formulas to manage and manipulate the data in Microsoft Excel.
