This course is for students in the Mining Industry Business Specialist Program and provides students
with an understanding of the role of marketing and communications in the mining industry. This
study will focus on how the mining industry communicates with stakeholders, and markets its
products to the world. Focusing initially on web presence, we will also study more traditional forms
of communications tools like press releases, annual reports and other media. In our study, we will
visit all the ‘mining majors’ in Saskatchewan to see what messages they are telling us, or what it is
that they are selling us, from the view of the main stakeholder groups.
